Sweet Dreams Jake

Jacob always has an excuse when it is time to go to bed. He usually says he's thirsty or hungry. He forgot to give one of us a hug and kiss or our personal favorite, he peaks around the corner and says "I need just one more thing." We had put Joshua down for the night and about 20 minutes later told Jacob it was time for bed. He reluctantly started his long lonely walk to bed and said "Joshua went to bed already and if he goes to bed first then he will steal all my dreams and wishes." Now how can you follow that up with "get back in bed"?

Joshua had his two year appointment today. He had one shot, so not too bad. He is in the 50th percentile for his height and weight. He was pretty mad at the nurse after receiving the shot, but was very proud to show daddy his ouchie.

Joshua's Birthday Party

We had a birthday dinner for Joshua. Mom made a beautiful Disney Cars cake. It tasted even better than it looks. Joshua had a few break downs, but overall had a great time. He really enjoyed blowing out the candle on his cake, almost burning his nose and hair. I can't believe my baby boy is two years old. Time is flying by!

Hi-fiving dad after blowing out his candle.

Happy Birthday Joshua!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY JOSHUA!!!
Today is Joshua's 2nd birthday. I can officially claim that we have hit the terrible two's in which I have been insisting for awhile. Just kidding.....he is my sweet baby boy. Jacob helped him pick a Disney cars birthday theme. When you ask him how old he is he says two and works really hard to hold up two fingers. He has finally mastered it.
This morning Jacob said "Oh my Gosh, Joshua's legs just got longer, but not as long as mine cause I'm going to be five!" Dad and I got a big laugh out of that. He then always follows up with "Don't laugh at me" We're not laughing at you Jake, we're laughing with you. : )

Cubbies

Jake & Mom are off to Cubbies tonight. She is one of the leaders each Wednesday at the church, helping to teach eleven 3 and 4 yr olds BOYS. Needless to say, mom is exhausted when she gets home Wednesday night. Each week the kids recite Bible verses and can earn patches on their vests. Jake thinks it is the coolest thing ever. Next week is award ceremony and the last week until next fall. It is truly amazing to watch Jake's love for God grow. He tells me often that "Jesus is in our hearts and in the sky." I am so proud of him and it melts my heart everytime he tells me. He also informs me that Joshua is not obeying God when he doesn't listen-- we're working on that : )

Story Time

Grandma & Grandpa Patton picked the boys up this morning for story time with Mr. Jeff at Barnes & Noble. Then they are off to the Galleria Mall to climb around on the playground.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Joshua watches every move Jacob makes. He is a mini me. Anything Jacob says or does he follows. At least Joshua has a great role model to look up to.
Despite some of their fights, they are the best of friends. Last week we went for a walk and Dad had to take Jacob to the bathroom, so we told them go ahead and would meet at the pond. When Joshua and I turned the corner, I pointed out Dad and Jacob across the pond. Josh got excited and then Jacob did. They then started running around the pond towards each other with their arms wide open. Jacob would yell "Josh", then Josh would yell "Jake" until finally they met and gave each other the biggest hug. Michael and I had such a big laugh. It looked like a Hallmark movie moment. They are just so sweet!

Busy Sunday

We had an event filled Sunday. We started with church and then Dad mowed the lawn. Jacob & Dad went to the FC Dallas soccer game vs Colorado(we won 3-1). They went with Jake's soccer team and even got to go on the field before the game and greet the soccer players as they came onto the field. Joshua & Mom went to Kenny's birthday party. After the soccer game, Dad & Jake walked over to the birthday party which was at Pump it Up, about 1/2 a mile from the stadium.

Stop and smell the roses

Dad, Mom and the boys took an evening stroll in the neighborhood. One of our neighbors has a beautiful rose bush. We also stopped to visit the cows and donkeys. The boys really enjoyed feeding them.

Eureka!

Joshua has now mastered the "volcano"as Jacob calls it. We walk to the Dinosaur park in our neighborhood just about every afternoon. I don't think that I have seen a more independent and determined kid. Failure is not an option for him. If he has trouble mastering a climb, he keeps trying until he makes it. It is very painful sometimes and also quite amusing to watch because he will not let anyone help. He now climbs to the top of the 12 foot "volcano" by himself and all of the moms look at me like I am the most irresponsible mom. They always ask me how old he is and can't believe the stunts that he does. I am very proud of his independent attitude, but it is very frustrating because many of the things he tries are very dangerous.
On a side note. Jacob has now learned the phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." Even though Joshua has a limited vocabulary, he can say "NO"with conviction and much of the time hurts Jacob's feelings. So I have now told him to tell this Joshua when he says something that hurts his feelings instead of crying. It is quite funny when Jacob tells this to Josh.

Backyard Fun

Michael has informed me that less is more. He said that he likes just the posts with one picture. I will try to limit pictures to one or two in the future, but these were just too darn cute!
Today the boys had their professional pictures done. They turned out really good!

I asked Jacob what he would like his teacher and classmates to call him when he starts pre-school this fall. He said that he would like to be called "Jake" not Jacob. Now when people ask him what his name is he says "Jake, J-A-K-E, not Jacob." We love ya JAKE!

Passport Pictures

Here is Joshua's picture. The photographer did not give him any time to pose. As soon as we put him up against the background she snapped the picture. So this is the result. Pretty funny!

Below was Jacob's first attempt at a passport picture earlier this year. As you can tell he was a little bit excited about it. We will be traveling to Mexico this summer and new laws require all of us to have a passport. This will be Jacob's second venture outside of the United States. His first time we went to the Dominican Republic a few years back. This will be the first time Josh has visited another country. Joshua's passport picture is prior to his first haircut and he looks possessed.

I managed to snap a few pictures before Grandma and Grandpa Patton picked up the boys for story time.

Soccer Celebration

Jacob had his last game of the season this weekend. They ended the season with a Braums ice cream party.

Bath Time!

Bathtime is a highlight of Josh's day.

Day at the Park

We took a trip to the Frisco Commons Park yesterday afternoon. Joshua had a rough day at the office. He is so independent and insists on doing everything himself. His motto is "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." Josh's body is pretty much one big bruise now. Just in time for his two year well check-up at the end of the month.

Bubble Time!

The boys love playing with their new bubble machine. Joshua wakes up every morning with the cutest face and voice and says "bubbles, bubbles."
I have been in a black and white mood lately. I will try to put a little color into future pictures. : )

Visit to Grandpa and Grandma's

We visited Grandpa and Grandma Denton's today. Great Grandpa is in town and the boys had a blast visiting. They searched for butterflies and played in the dirt!
